Have you ever spent Christmas in New York City? It's pure magic...the department stores' decorations, the breeze in the air that brings some colour to the cheeks of eager shoppers, the general spirit of hospitality that permeates the street and the underground, and - if you're lucky - the quiet beauty of fresh snow falling in the streetlights.

Growing up in New York, Lea Michele knows exactly how spectacular New York can be at Christmastime; and on this, her Top 40 album of 2019, the Glee star (currently playing Fanny Brice in Funny Girl on Broadway) has captured a whole sleighful of Christmas cheer.

The centrepiece of the record is 'Christmas in New York', an original that, in her words, paints a beautiful picture of New York, but it's also about what it means to be with your family and friends and getting into the festive spirit. All the other songs, produced by Glee producers Alex and Adam Anders, are equally transcendent and feature duets with fellow Glee stars Jonathan Groff (the voice of Kristoff in Frozen) and Darren Criss, as well as an impressive vocal performance on 'Angels We Have Heard on High' with Cynthia Erivo.
