The Meteors
Die Band ‚The Meteors’ wurde 1979 von Gitarrist und Sänger P. Paul Fenech, zusammen mit Nigel Lewis (Bass, Gesang) und Mark Robertson (Drums), zunächst als ''Legendary Raw Deal'' gegründet. The Meteors gelten als ‚Erfinder’ des Psychobilly.
Die Metamorphose dieses Musikstils, vom Rockabilly zum Psychobilly, lässt sich leicht anhand der Aufnahmen Fenechs mit seiner Band Legendary Raw Deal 1979/80, sowie seiner frühen Meteors Aufnahmen bis 1981 heraushören. Die mit der Band in Zusammenhang stehende und sehr gebräuchliche Abkürzung ''OTMAPP'' steht für ''Only The Meteors Are Pure Psychobilly''.
