Her artistic career began when the 21-year-old actress Elfriede Katharina Nehrhaupt, born in Cologne as an actress and trained singer, appeared in Rosa Valetti's Cabaret Größenwahn in Berlin. Appreciated and supported by Trude Hesterberg, Kurt Tucholsky, Friedrich Hollaender and Mischa Spoliansky, she developed into one of the great German chanson and stage stars of the 20s. Accompanied only by a piano voice she brings 1929 "Lene Levi".
