Lesley Gore

Born Lesley Goldstein in New York City on May 2, 1946. Lesley Gore died of cancer in New York on 16.02.2015. Had her high time during the Girl-Group-Booms- but, in contrast to almost all her colleagues, could still assert herself years later with several recordings in the front field of the hitlists.

In May 1963, she produced'It's My Party', a 6Os classic (No.1 in the USA), 18 more chart entries followed until 1967, and many of her top titles on Mercury were produced by Quincy Jones. Gore has also starred in various feature films such as'Girls On The Beach' (not distributed in Germany), has appeared in musicals such as'Half A Sixpence' and'Funny Girl' and in several TV series (e.g.'Batman'). She later composed music for the feature film'Fame' with her brother Michael. In 1999 she sang the title'All One Family' on the charity CD'Sounds For The Soul' for charity projects in New Jersey. In the same year she starred in the Broadway musical'Smokey Joe's Café'. The American cable station A & E broadcast a TV biography of the singer on January 7, 2001. In 2002 she started working with her brother on'Fame 2002', a project of ABC
