Dickey Lipscomb begann als purer Rockabilly Künstler in Florida, dessen Sound die Härte einer Art Punk-Rockabilly hatte. 1957 kame er zu Sun Records in Memphis und veröffentlichte bald die Single 'Good Lovin' '. In Memphis am 21. September 1943 geboren, besuchte er das Memphis State College während er bereits drei Platten eingespielt hatte. In den Sechzigern kam er erneut mit Einspielungen auf den Markt, die er in Beaumont aufnahm, wo er mit Jack Clement bei Hallway Records arbeitete, Songs schrieb, produzierte, spielte und sang. Dieses Mal erreichte er die Pop Charts mit dem Titel 'Patches'. Er siedelte dann nach Nashville über und begann C & W-Standards zu schreiben, darunter Hits, wie 'She Thinks I Still Care' und erneuerte seine eigene Gesangs-Karriere 1971 mit 'Never Ending Song Of Love' und anderen Hits für Epic und RCA.
