After working as a backup singer for several country-rock acts and being a member of Commander Cody's Lost Planet Airmen for several years in the mid-'70s, singer Nicolette Larson launched a solo career in the late '70s. Initially, Larson focused on the sound of laid-back Californian country rock, which led to a top ten pop hit in 1979 with “Lotta Love”. In the years following the success of “Lotta Love”, Larson stayed true to the mellow Californian rock sound, but eventually turned to country music in the mid-80s. She landed a string of country hits throughout the '80s before semi-retiring.
