Exactly 25 years ago, in September and October 1983, a song a total of 7 weeks blocked the top of the German singles chart, and is still regarded as the epitome of relaxed groovy summer number since then - the title: "Sunshine Reggae". The responsible Danish (!) Duo LAID BACK was founded a few years earlier, more precisely in 1979 almost "by accident" when he then did not show up at a scheduled recording session for a singer. In order not to let the time already paid for studio time, the two sought-after musician John Guldberg (guitar) and Tim Stahl (keyboards) began unceremoniously together to forge melodies - and a new dance pop act was born. The preference for laid back rhythms finally gave the duo's name.

A first single already, "Maybe I'm Crazy", made them stars in the homeland, a deal with the Copenhagen-based label Medley Records was finished, recorded an album ("Keep Smiling") and decoupled from a first song - just "Sunshine Reggae ". In the wake of this global success avancierten more numbers to hits: "Elevator Boy", "High Society Girl" or "White Horse", often sampled No. 1 dance track counted in the US and from Prince to his all-time favorites.. End of the 80 are titles like "It's A Shame", "Bakerman" joined (which today upstart director Lars von Trier shot the video!) Or "Highway Of Love" to this impressive list of charts.
