Siegfried Kessler, who began piano lessons at the age of four, gave his first concert at the age of six and then studied classical music until the discovery of jazz turned everything upside down. The pianist played with Dexter Gordon and Joe Henderson, founded the cult group Perception and, before becoming Archie Shepp's long-time accompanist, created his own jewels: Solaire was recorded in 1971 with Gus Nemeth and Stu Martin and is the rarest of them all.
