“Let's Start Again” is the sixth solo album by singer/songwriter Bap Kennedy.
Northern Irishman Kennedy was previously the frontman of Belfast cult rock band Energy Orchard, with whom he released a total of five albums. Many of his previous albums were recorded between the US and the UK, but this time he wanted to bring together Northern Irish musicians in his old home to record “Let's Start Again.”
The locals include Bap's wife Brenda Kennedy, who was already playing bass and singing in Bap's live band, as well as drummer Rabb Bennett and virtuoso guitarist Gordy McAllister.
After the melancholic Celtic album “The Sailor's Revenge,” the new album features much more optimistic songs influenced by rootsy Americana. The country roots style of the new album was certainly also influenced by Kennedy's co-producer, who had already discovered Kennedy's special affinity for country music during their first collaboration in the 1980s.
