geb. 4. 7.1939 Record Labels: Rounder, Ridgerunner, MCA Der Sänger, Komponist und Banjospieler Bill Keith ist neben Earl Scruggs der wichtigste „lnnovator“ der Bluegrass Szene. Mit seinem von ihm entwickelten chromatischen Banjospiel legte er den Grundstein für die Entwicklungen des sogenannten „Newgrass“ und ,Jazzgrass“ in den 70er Jahren. Aufgebaut hatte Bill Keith auf einem soliden Hintergrund. Dank seiner Virtuosität hatte ihn Bill Monroe für seine Bluegrass Boys engagiert. Er tourte immer wieder mit dem Gitarristen Jim Rooney und wurde ein begehrter Sessionmusiker. Zahlreiche Solo-L.P.s zeugen von seinem ldeenreichtum als Komponist und seinem virtuosen können als Banjospieler.
