Gene Kardos
Gene Kardos' supercharged recording of He's In The Jailhouse Now was made in 1932 when many sweet bands were getting hotter. Kardos (1899-1980) was a popular bandleader in New York City during the 1930s, performing with his orchestra at the Roseland Ballroom. The Kardos band's arrangements (usually created by Vic Schoen and Bernie Green) prefaced the hotter swing sound of groups like the Casa Loma Orchestra, and utilized Victor's house vocalist, Dick Robertson, who was well-suited for many different kinds of material.
