Geboren am 22.7.37 in Latta, South Carolina. Cousin der Sängerin Ann Sexton.
Als Kind nach Pittsburgh gezogen. Verließ das College 1957, um mit der Gospelgruppe Raspberry Singers zu arbeiten.
MItglied der Dell-Wikings von 1957-59.
Erste Soloaufnahme als Charles Jackson für Clock 1959.

Chuck Jackson erreichte nie die Höhen, die sein Talent rechtfertigte, vor allem weil Soul während seiner Blütezeit in den frühen 1960er Jahren noch nicht das hohe Profil erreicht hatte, das es ein paar Jahre später erreichen würde.

Dennoch waren die sechziger Jahre für Chuck goldene Jahre. Zwischen 1961 und 1968 konnte er nicht weniger als 23 Billboard Top 100 Chart-Einträge und 19 Top-R&B-Hits verbuchen.
Chuck Jackson war Mr. Crossover, ein Mann vieler Märkte.
