Who was/is Tommy Hudson & The Savoys ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more

Tommy Hudson & The Savoys

Tommy Hudson & the Savoys were an R&B-influenced white rock 'n' roll band from Dallas, who had recorded for the local White Rock label before backing the black vocal group the Velvetones on 'D' and cutting this single. T.D. Ashburn, who was also connected to the Velvetones -- either as manager or leader -- is co-credited on Swanee River Gal, a reworking of Stephen Foster's ancient Old Folks At Home with a Johnny Ogden, who was presumably a member of the Savoys; Terry Wayne Sivils is co-credited on the guitar and sax driven instrumental flip, Band Stand Stomp. Unfortunately, no other details have surfaced on Tommy Hudson or members of the Savoys.
