She was awarded a Grammy in 1994 for her album “Other Voices, Other Rooms”, which consisted of cover songs and musical collaborations.
Her musical style, which Griffith herself described as “folkabilly”, was considered unique and mixed musical genres. “Other Voices, Other Rooms” was Nanci Griffith's tenth studio album. The name of the album goes back to the novel of the same name by Truman Capote. “Other Voices, Other Rooms” was certified gold by the RIAA in 2005, meaning that 500,000 units were sold in the United States.
In 1998, Griffith released a follow-up album entitled Other Voices, Too (A Trip Back to Bountiful).
