Who was/is Roy Gonzales ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more

Roy Gonzales

Roy Gonzales, born in 1907 and (possibly died in 1989), was a Cajun musician from Lafayette, Louisiana who recorded one session for Paramount in July 1929 in which two of the songs he sang were covers of Jimmie Rodgers songs. We have included his version of Lonely And Blue, sung in Acadian French. In addition to performing on his own, Gonzales also backed up accordionist John Bertrand at another Paramount session after Milton Pitre, Bertrand's regular guitarist, was shot and killed in an argument over a woman.
