"Bobby Goldsboro"

Geboren am 18.1.1941 in Marianna, US-Staat Florida. Wuchs in Dothan, Alabama, auf und spielte zwischen 1962 bis 1964 zeitweise in Roy Orbisons Begleitband Gitarre. 1962 gelang ihm mit „Molly“ ein erster Hit auf dem Laurie-Label, dem bis heute zwei Dutzend weitere folgten, darunter sein Klassiker „Honey“ (Nr. 1 in den USA, Nr. 2 in Großbritannien, Nr. 8 in Deutschland). 1973 bis 1975 ging die „Bobby Goldsboro Show' über viele US-TV-Sender. Golds-Programm Songs wurden u. a. von Paul Anka John Denver, Bette Midler, Dolly Parton und Dr. John in ihr Repertoire übernommen. Mitte der 80er Jahre zog sich der Sänger aus dem Live-Geschäft zurück und verlegte sich auf Unterhaltung für Kinder (Platten, Hörbücher, Videofilme, Kassetten, Entwerfen von Figuren, Drehbüchern und Shows). Zu seinen populärsten, millionenfach vermarkteten Kreationen zählen die „Swamp Critters'. Um Goldsboros vermeintlich in deutscher Sprache gesungenen Titel „Es ist zu spät' (US-Original: „It's Too Late') gab es erhebliche Verwirrung. Hiesige TV- Zeitschriften hatten ihn in ihren Programmspalten für die ZDF- „Drehscheibe“ vom 9.3.1967 angekündigt - eine Veröffentlichung oder zumindest Einspielung blieb allerdings unauffindbar. Bis Ende 2001. Auf einem bis dato unentdeckten Band fanden sich gleich zwei Goldsboro-Titel in deutscher Sprache: das gesuchte „Es ist zu spät' sowie „Warum macht Liebe so blind?' Einspielungsdatum laut Karton: 1966. Detail-Informationen dazu sind allerdings nicht vorhanden. Als Single(s) oder auf Langspielplatte(n) hat es beide Songs nicht gegeben.
