Born July 6, 1944 in Ocala, Florida, Joey moved to southern Florida in the 60's and has lived there ever since. He found his musical niche accompanying all the great soul, blues and R&B stars who performed in the city. But he also leads his own band and, of course, makes records.

His love for the guitar began in the teens....
"There was a barbershop in town" he recounts. "And this barber was a priest, a pastor, who had a guitar. Flat, electric, but without an amplifier. And he wanted to learn to play it. The boy Joey spent all his time in the store trying to pick up how to play. As an amplifier, he used an old wooden bench that just resonated when he strummed the strings."
A few years later, Joey was one of the best soul blues singers and guitarists in Florida. He is a true master of the blues, bringing in new and changed styles even as he plays the old songs.
