Nach diversen Proben stellte John Fogerty gemeinsam mit seinem Bruder Tom sowie Stu Cook und Doug Clifford 1967 die Gruppe „Creedence Clearwater Revival' auf, die 1 Jahr später die ersten Hitparadenstürmer zu verzeichnen hatte. Die Band blieb bis zu ihrer Auflösung im Jahre 1972 so erfolgreich, daß sie einen Schallplattenumsatz von mehr als 100 Mill. Mark erspielte. Dieser Umsatz schlug sich auch in 8 Goldenen Single- und 7 Goldenen Langspielplatten nieder.

Der intelligente Musiker, der seine Gruppe verließ, um eine Solokarriere zu starten, schrieb fast alle großen Hits der CCR. „Proud Mary', „Down On The Corner' oder „Born On The Bayou' stammen aus seiner Feder. Mit diesem Talent versucht John Fogerty - bislang freilich vergebens - auch als Solist an den Erfolg seiner Gruppe anknüpfen zu können.
