Two CD set. In his 50-year tenure as conductor of the Boston Pops, Arthur Fiedler transformed the offshoot of the Boston Symphony Orchestra into perhaps the most renowned pops orchestra in the world. He incorporated the music of the Beatles into his programs and established the tradition of the Pops concert and fireworks display every 4th of July on the Esplanade in Boston.
In addition to the 4th of July, there is a holiday closely associated with Fiedler and the Pops: Christmas! The orchestra introduced Leroy Anderson's now classic "Sleigh Ride" in 1948 and recorded it for RCA Victor the following year. This very first recording, shockingly never before released on CD, inaugurates Real Gone Music and Second Disc Records' definitive celebration of Arthur Fiedler and The Boston Pops' Christmas recordings.
