Als Sologitarrist der englischen Gruppe Love Sculpture wurde Dave Edmunds (geboren 15. 4.1944 in Cardiff) bekannt. Im Sommer 1969 hatte die Gruppe mit „Sabre Dance" einen Top-Hit.

So schnell sie berühmt geworden war, verschwand sie allerdings auch wieder. Dave Edmunds fand einen Job als Studiomusiker, baute sich ein eigenes Studio, produzierte und arbeitete als Toningenieur. 1971 hatte er mit der Neu-Aufnahme des Oldies „I hear you knocking" von Fats Domino einen weltweiten Millionenhit.

Nach 2jähriger Pause gelang ihm ein Comeback mit weiteren Oldies: „Baby I love you" und „Born to be with you" waren Hits in England. Da er allerdings nur selten auf-tritt, sondern meist allein in seinem Rock-field-Studio arbeitet, gilt er nur in Musiker-kreisen als Könner.

DAVE EDMUNDS

Singer/songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist born in Cardiff, Wales in 1944.  He formed Love Sculpture in 1967 and the rockabilly band Rockpile in 1976.  He enjoyed a No.1 UK hit in 1971 with his version of 'I Hear You Knocking' and went on to produce Shakin' Stevens, Brinsley Schwarz, the Stray Cats and Dion amongst others.  In the '70s, he always included at least one Berry song or soundalike on his albums.  Pity he didn't record a Berry tribute album, since he obviously thinks of Berry as the Father of Rock'n'Roll.
