Amerikanische Folk-Rock-Gruppe. Die einzelnen Mitglieder spielten vorher getrennt mit Neil Young, Chris Hillman und Rick Nelson zusammen, bevor sie sich 1971 als Begleitmusiker der Sängerin Linda Ronstadt kennenlernten. lm August 1971 machten sie sich selbständig, nannten sich Eagles und versuchten ihr Glück im Alleingang. Die Rechnung ging auf. Bereits 1972 erschien die erste LP „Eagles“ und tauchte sofort in den Hitparaden auf. Die unkomplizierten, melodiösen Folkrock-Songs mit den eingängigen Harmonien von Sänger, Pianist und Gitarrist Glenn Frey (geboren 6.11. 1948 in Detroit), Schlagzeuger Don Henley (geboren 22. 7.1947 in Gilmer), Gitarrist Bernie Leadon (geboren 19.7.1947 in Minneapolis) und Bassist Randy Meisner (geboren 8.3.1946 in Scottsbluff) gefielen auf Anhieb.

„Take it easy' war der erste Hit der Gruppe im Frühjahr 1972. Die bis jetzt meistgelobte LP, die das Ziel eines Konzept-Albums verfolgte, war 1973 „Desperado', in der die Eagles Vergleiche anstellen zur modernen Existenzeines Rockmusikers und zurExistenz eines Gunmen des letzten Jahrhunderts. Bei uns in Deutschland konnten sich die Eagles 1975 mit ihrer Single „One of these Nights' durchsetzen. Seit März 1974 spielen Eagles mit Steelgitarrist und Sänger Don Felder (geboren 21.9.1947 in Gainesville).
