Italienischer Sänger. Geboren als Giampiere Anelli 1949 in Pavia. Gründete in seiner Heimatstadt eine Rockgruppe, beteiligte sich an Moto-Cross-Rennen und gab Tauchunterricht. 1973 nahm er am San-Remo-Festival in Italien teil und wurde als unbekannter Außenseiter Sieger dieses wichtigsten Schlagerfestivals für Südeuropa. „Vado Via' sang er damals. Die Platte wurde der Sommerhit Italiens, verkaufte sich 900 000mal, zog in die französischen Hitparaden ein, brachte ihm in Holland den Durchbruch und wurde in England als „She didn't remember my Name' im November 1973 ein Hit.
