"Deke Dickerson"

Deke Dickerson, einer der angesehensten Gitarristen der West Coast Roots Rockszene, verbindet erstklassige Sounds mit einem enzyklopädischen Wissen über Vintage Country, Rockabilly, Surf, Blues und Garagenrock, die alle von seinem typischen Sinn für Humor geprägt sind. Dickerson wurde im Sommer 1968 in Columbia, Missouri, geboren. Aufgewachsen in einer Bauernfamilie, wuchs Dickerson mit klassischen Country-Sounds auf und erzählte einmal einem Reporter, dass die ersten beiden Konzerte, die er sah, vom Bluegrass-Pionier Bill Monroe und von der Blues-Ikone Willie Dixon waren. Dickerson begann mit 13 Jahren in Bands zu spielen und war ein erfahrener Veteran, als er 1987 die Untamed Youth gründete. Die Mischung aus Surf und Garagenrock verschaffte der Band einen kleinen, aber sehr treuen Kult, doch trotz des Umzugs an die Westküste gab die Band 1993 nach sechs Jahren des Kampfes auf, kurz bevor der Erfolg des Pulp Fiction Soundtracks der Surfszene neues Leben einhauchte.
