Geboren am 16. 12. 1931 (andere Quellen: 1934) in Glasgow als Angus McKenzie- verstorben am 21. 12. 1998 in Manchester. Der Sänger, Gitarrist und ehemalige Seemann der britischen Handelsmarine stieg 1957 ins Musikgeschäft ein. Mit dem Karl Denver Trio veröffentlichte er in den 60er Jahren 18 Singles in England. Elf davon kamen in die UK-Top 40, 'Marcheta', 'Mexicali Rose' (1961) sowie 'Wimoweh' und “Never Goodbye' (1962) sogar in die Top 10. Denvers Mitstreiter waren Kevin Neill (Gitarre, Gesang) und Jerry Cotterell (andere Schreibweise: Gerry Cottrell- Bass, Gesang). Bis weit in die 80er Jahre blieb das Trio aktiv (beliebteste Tournee-Ziele: Hongkong, Zimbabwe, Australien), dessen folkloristische Songs ihr Publikum auf dem weltweiten Oldie-Circuit fanden. 1989 spielte Denver mit den Happy Mondays die Single ''Lazyitis (One Armed Boxer)' ein, die bis auf Platz 46 der UK-Charts gelangte. Die textliche Schlichtheit der B-Seite seiner deutschen Single wird relativiert, wenn man weiß, dass ebenfalls 1963 in England ein Werk mit dem Titel “My Canary Has Circles Under His Eyes' als Denver-Single erschien...
