Boo Boo Davis: Oldskool (CD)

(2015/Black & Tan) 11 tracks. Boo Boo Davis - voc/hca, John Gerritse - drums, Jan Mittendorp - gtr. Recorded live in the studio within 5 hours and all in one take.

With Oldskool, Boo Boo Davis delivers an earthy and direct blues album deeply rooted in the Mississippi Delta tradition. Recorded in 2015, the album features Boo Boo Davis on vocals and harmonica, Jan Mittendorp on guitar and John Gerritse on drums. The eleven tracks were recorded live in the studio within just five hours and in single takes, giving the performances an immediate, powerful feel. Tracks such as Hold Your Head Up, Boo Boo Fool, Boy Blues, Call Me A Clown, Old Skool and Lucky Man capture a stripped-down blues sound driven by harmonica, guitar and drums. For listeners who appreciate raw, authentic blues and a strong groove, Oldskool is a release worth discovering. FOMO for blues collectors and fans of uncompromising, old-school blues.
