geb. 17. 12. 1910 in Grand - Oklahoma gest. 23.11. 1969 Record Labels: Okeh, Columbia, RCA, Decca, MCA Donnell C. Cooley, einst der ,King Of Western Swing genannt, hatte mit oft zwei Dutzend Musikern wahrscheinlich die größte Country Band aller Zeiten unter seiner Leitung. Ende der 30er Jahre spielte er in zahlreichen Filmen mit, hatte in den 40er Jahren seine eigene Big Band, war in Radio- und Fernsehshows der Westküste zu sehen und zu hören und spielte eine Mischung aus Jazz und Country' Dann erschlug er, aus welchen Gründen auch immer, seine Frau, kam in's Gefängnis und starb kurz nach seiner Entlassung während eines Konzerts.
