"Colosseum"

Vor allem in Deutschland war die 1968 in England gegründete Jazz-Rock-gruppe besonders populär und beliebt. Gründer waren der Schlagzeuger Jon Hiseman (geboren 21. 6.1944 in London) und der Saxophonist Dick Heckstall-Smith (geboren 26.9.1934 in Ludlow). Durch häufigen Mitgliederwechsel spielten Jim Roche, James Litherland oder Dave Clempson in der Gruppe.

Roche schloss sich East of Eden an, Clempson ging zu Humble Pie. Mit Bassist Mark Clarke (geboren 25. 7.1950 in Liverpool), Organist Dave Greenslade (geboren 18. 6. 1943) und Sänger Chris Farlowe (geboren 13.10.1940 in Essex) erreichte Colosseum 1970 den Höhepunkt der Karriere, spielte sich die Band an die Spitze aller Instrumentalgruppen. 1971 gingen die Musiker auseinander. Farlowe schloss sich kurze Zeit Atomic Rooster an, Hiseman gründete Tempest, Greenslade und Heckstall-Smith gründeten eigene Bands.

|m Sommer 1975 machte Jon Hiseman mit Colosseum II einen neuen Versuch, um an die alten Erfolge anzuknüpfen. Original Presse-Info: Ariola Eurodisc GmbH
