Like many other fellow musicians, Eric Clapton had to cancel some concerts last year and this year due to the Corona pandemic and the lockdown. In order to still offer something to his fans, the British singer and guitarist instead met with his band, bassist and backing vocalist Nathan East, drummer Steve Gadd and keyboardist Chris Stainton, at Cowdray House in West Sussex, England, to record what was originally planned as a sort of sequel to his hit 1992 album MTV Unplugged: his new concert album The Lady In The Balcony: Lockdown Sessions.

At this intimate gig, only the participants themselves were present while the cameras and recording equipment were rolling. The band recorded 17 songs for the record, acoustic interpretations of their own tunes and a number of other numbers from blues, rock and country. Included are Clapton originals such as Layla and Tears In Heaven, After Midnight, Bell Bottom Blues, Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out and Key To The Highway, blues standards such as Rock Me Baby and cover versions of songs that have influenced Mr. Slowhand throughout his career, for example the Peter Green-era Feetwood Mac tunes Black Magic Woman and Man Of The World. The whole thing was recorded under the direction of Clapton's longtime Grammy-winning producer Russ Titelman (James Taylor, George Harrison, Brian Wilson, Randy Newman, Rickie Lee Jones), who had already produced MTV Unplugged.

Geboren am 30. 3.1945 in Surrey „Er ist wieder da', jubelten vor knapp einem Jahr Fachwelt und Fans, und sie meinten Eric Clapton, den sie einst zum Gott der Gitarre hochstilisiert hatten. Die letzten 3 Jahre war er fast verschollen gewesen, vom Rauschgift an den Rand des Untergangs gebracht, die fast geniale Begabung zu seinem Instrument war verloren. Mit aller Kraft riss sich Eric Clapton schließlich doch von der Droge los, und begann wieder zu arbeiten.

Die erste Band von Eric Clapton waren die „Roosters“ die Mitglieder hießen Paul Jones, Tom McGuiness und Brian Jones. Als die Gruppe auseinanderbrach stieg er ,für 14 Tage bei Casey Jones ein. Der Job missfiel ihm, und Eric Clapton wechselte in eine Band, die sich Yardbirds nannte. Hier entwickelte sich Clapton zu dem hervorragenden Gitarristen, der er war. 18 Monate später wechselte er zu John Mayall, der ihm den letzten Schliff mit auf den weiteren Weg gab.

1966 gründete Eric mit Ginger Baker und Jack Bruce die mittlerweile sagenumwobene Supergruppe Cream. Bis zu ihrem Splitting im Jahre 1968 setzte Cream die Maßstäbe in der Popmusik. Über 12 Mill. Langspielplatten wurden bis heute verkauft. Nach kurzer Pause gründete Eric Clapton nun mit Baker, Rick Grech und Stevie Winwood die Gruppe „Blind Faith'. Die 4 Musiker produzierten nur 1 Platte, die vor ihrem Erscheinen schon millionenfach verkauft war, absolvierte eine USA- Tournee und löste sich wieder auf. Die letzte Gruppe, die Eric Clapton formierte, nannte sich „Derek And The Dominoes'. Danach zog er sich mehr und mehr aus dem Showgeschäft zurück.
