The Cats

Holländische Gruppe, die 1963 gegründet Wurde. In ihrer Heimat sind sie so populär, wie es die Beatles in England waren. Und in Deutschland waren sie eine der ersten Gruppen, die den Ruf vom holländischen Rock begründeten.

1971 gelang ihnen bei uns der Durchbruch mit dem Hit „One Way Wind'. „Let's Dance' (1972), und „Rock'n'Roll (1974) folgten. Aber auch in England und Amerika schafften es die Cats, mit ihren Liedern die Hitparaden zu erobern. Musikalisch lieben sie eher sanfte Töne und den melodiösen Gruppengesang. 1973 gingen sie nach Amerika, um dort die LP „Love in your Eyes" zu produzieren. Aus ihr stammt der Hit „Be my Dey". Das Experiment verlief jedoch nicht wie erwartet und die Cats verließen sich für die Zukunft wieder auf heimische Studios und Techniker. Für Plattenaufnahmen engagieren Piet Veerman, Cees Veerman, Arnold Mühren, Jaap Schilder und Theo Klouwer meist renommierte Studiomusiker. So wirkten auf ihren Platten Musiker von Steely Dan und den Crusaders mit.
