Who was/is Cadence Records ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more
Cadence Records was formed in New York in 1953 by Archie Bleyer, and is best known for the seven Nashville-based million-sellers by the Everly Brothers, including 'Bye Bye Love' in 1957 and 'Wake Up Little Susie' in 1958. Bleyer IIP himself hit with the novelty 'The Rockin' Ghost' and Johnny Tillotson scored with 'Poetry In Motion'. Heavier rock sounds like Link Wray's original 'Rumble' appeared, too, while Cadence also fielded several ballad singers head-lined by Andy Williams and 'Butterfly'. Williams and the Everly Brothers left in 1960 and partly as a result, Cadence ceased operations in 1961, and Bleyer sold the masters to 0 Williams.
