geb. 1.9. 1931 in Sterret - Texas Record Labels: Column 1, Big R, lntercord, Main Street, SMI, MCA Erster Hit: Train Medley (1980) Lecil Travis Martin, genannt „BoXcar Willie“, ist ein ausdrucksstarker Sänger mit einem untrüglichen Gefühl für das Urwüchsige und Authentische. In seiner Heimat, den USA, wurde er Ende 1979 erst anerkannt, nachdem er in England riesige Erfolge hatte und von der CMA (Great Britain) zum besten internationalen Country Sänger gewählt worden war. Boxcar Willie fühlt sich vor allem der Musik von Jimmie Rodgers und Hank Williams verpflichtet und pflegt das Hobo-Image. Mit Vorliebe singt er Songs aus dem Train- und Hobo-Genre.
