The alt-country classic from 1997
Brian Henneman, the Bottle Rockets' frontman, worked as a guitar tech for Uncle Tupelo for a few years before forming an alt-country band to compete with his former bosses.

The 1997 Atlantic album "24 Hours a Day" was The Bottle Rockets' chance to make it big; it's their only release on a major label, and they pulled out all the stops for it, hiring former Del Lord Eric "Roscoe" Ambel as producer and re-recording "Indianapolis," the song that landed Henneman a record deal in the early '90s. Unfortunately, the commercial breakthrough did not succeed, but in our hearts will always be a place for this honest, melodic rock'n'roll, of which "Perfect Far Away" and "When I Was Dumb" are the best examples.
