geb. 7. 2. 1898 in Norton - Virginia gest. März 1971 Record Labels: Brunswick, Folkways, Verve, Vanguard, Disc Moran Lee „Dock“ Boggs, der über 40 Jahre als Bergmann gearbeitet hatte, entwickelte zu seiner Zeit einen eigenen 2-Pinger- und Daumen-Stil auf dem Banjo. Anleitungen dazu hatte er von einem farbigen Musiker erhalten. Mit Titeln wie ,Down South Blues“, ,Country Blues“ und ,Mean Mistreatin'Mama“ gehörte er in den 20er Jahren zu den wichtigsten Vertretern des weißen Blues. Mike Seeger entdeckte Dock Boggs während des Folk-Song-Booms in den 60er Jahren und brachte ihn zu den Festivals, wo er stürmisch gefeiert wurde.
