Not counting the two albums Reverend Beat-Man released as a traveling one-man wrestling show, "Surreal Folk Blues Gospel Trash Vol. 1" is album #3 that makes sense out of all three records in one fell swoop after the brilliant blues thrash banger "Get On Your Knees" and the industrial experiment on "Your Favourite Position Is On Your Knees". Guest musicians include Delaney Davids of the Dead Brothers on drums, Robert ,Pantichrist" Butler on slide guitar, Sybille Häberli or Jeroen Visser.

"Surreal Folk Blues Gospel Trash Vol. 1" was half made at Star Track Studios, while the other half saw the light of day between Beat-Man's living room and bathroom. As the most personal record, "Surreal Folk Blues Gospel Trash Vol. 1" oscillates between acoustic blues numbers, overdriven blues thrash and rhythm'n'blues. Liam Watson (Toe Rag, White Stripes) once said that it reminds him very much of a recitation album, because the lyrics are in the foreground and the Beat-Man thus finally becomes the true Reverend "Surreal Folk Blues Gospel Trash Vol. 1" is the first installation of a trilogy, the final statement of which will be a DVD filmed by filmmakers worldwide clips of Reverend Beat-Man songs.
