From the studio to the hospital
With her two albums "Wildfire" (2017) and "Road I Call Home" (2019) and two other EPs, Elles Bailey has made a name for herself in the roots and blues scene in recent years. In 2022, the British singer-songwriter with the unmistakable smoky voice will release her new, third album "Shining In The Half Light".

She recorded ten songs for it. She co-wrote each of them, along with a host of colleagues, including Ashton Tucker and Will Edmunds, her longtime guitarist Joe Wilkins, guitarist Martin Harley and Matt Owens, co-founder of the hugely successful indie folk band Noah and the Whale, and Nashville songwriter Craig Lackey.

After the recordings of the previous album, gospel-like vocals were now to be used. No sooner said than done. Singer, songwriter and pianist Izo Fitzroy from London arranged the background vocals for the album and sang them together with Jade Elliot and Andrusilla Mosley. Additional support on the record comes from guitarist Wilkins, bassist Matthew Waer, drummer Matthew Jones and Jonny Henderson on keys. They recorded "Shining In The Half Light" in December 2020 at Middle Farm Studios in the county of Devon in southwest England with producer Dan Weller, best known for his longtime collaboration with British post-hardcore band Enter Shikari. This makes it the first album by Elles Bailey that she recorded in the UK. Incidentally, the singer became a mother for the first time immediately after the recordings. She listened to the final mix while still in the hospital.

She finally presented the first listening impression of the album in August 2021 with the single "Cheats & Liars". If you have a taste for it, you can order "Shining In The Half Light" now as CD or LP.
