Liane Augustin was born on 18.11.1927 in Vienna. She took singing lessons and completed a singing study. Shortly after the war she got her first engagement in a club for US soldiers in Vienna. In the Bohème-Bar in Vienna Liane Augustin became a local great. In 1949 she got her first record contract. In the charts she was mainly represented with cover versions of American hits. While visiting the Bohème-Bar the American music producer Seymour Salomon discovered her talent and offered her a worldwide contract.

From 1952 to 1962 Liane Augustin released 16 albums in the U.S.A.. In 1958 she took part for Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest in Hilversum with the song "Die ganze Welt braucht Liebe", where she reached the 5th place. At the end of 1958 she survived the crash of an Air France plane at Vienna Airport and barely escaped with her life. Her tours took Liane around the world. On April 30, 1978, Liane Augustin died suddenly and unexpectedly after an operation in a Viennese hospital. She was only 51 years old.
