Noël 'Chappy' d'Amato

Noël 'Chappy' d'Amato (1897-1976) spielte mehrere Instrumente, darunter Saxophon, Klarinette, Klavier und Gitarre, außerdem war er ein gesuchter Arrangeur und guter Sänger. Er gehörte viele Jahre zum Orchester von Jack Hylton, mit dem er einige Male in Berlin gastierte, bis er sich Anfang 1933 dem Orchester von Jack Jackson anschloß. Schließlich gründete Chappy d'Amato ein eigenes Orchester, mit dem er über lange Zeit in 'Hatchett's Restaurant' am Piccadilly Circus engagiert war. Seine Version lautete: "Old soldiers never die there in the Eighth Army".
