Who was/is The Playboys ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more
Reportedly cut October 10, 1957 in New York, the bouncy Don’t Do Me Wrong was the better half of The Playboys’ only Mercury single (it was in stores by month’s end). All six members of the Buffalo, New York-based group—lead Jack Scorsone, Ronald Pace, Bruce Hammond, Raymond Baumler, Harry Rogers, and Anthony Musachio—were listed as writers. Musachio was also a co-writer on the ballad flip Why Do I Love You, Why Do I Care. A demo of the latter was presented to WWOL deejay Frank Ward, who passed it along to Mercury and got the group its one-off contract. Jack and Bruce were later members of The Graduates, whose Ballad Of A Girl And A Boy stirred up a little pop chart dust on the Shan-Todd logo in 1959.
