Erster Hit: I've Been Loving You Too Long (1969) Erster Top Ten Hit: Tonight My Baby`s Coming Home (1971) Erster No. 1 Hit: Sleeping Single In A Double Bed (1978) Barbara Mandrell, eine.Sängerin und Multiinstrumentalistin auf Gitarre, Banjo, Steel Guitar und Saxophon, begann als Mitglied einer Familien-Band, den Mandrells, mit Mom, Dad und den beiden Schwestern Louise und lrlean Mandrell. Dann machte sich Barbara Mandrell selbständig, trat bei der Town Hall Party auf, ging mit Johnny Cash auf Tournee und unterschrieb Ende der 60er Jahre ihren ersten Schallplattenvertrag. Seit ihrem ersten No. 1 Hit gehört sie zur ersten Garnitur der Country Sängerinnen. Ihr großer Vorteil gegenüber anderen Sängerinnen: Die vielen Instrumente, die sie virtuos beherrscht und die Gabe, ihr Publikum zu unterhalten. 1980 und 1981 wurde sie von der CMA zum besten Entertainer des Jahres gewählt.
