Patricia Kaas stammt aus Forbach in Lothringen. Ihre Mutter ist Deutsche, ihr Vater Franzose. Patricia Kaas steht in der Tradition des französischen Chansons, das sie mit Pop, Jazz und Blues zu würzen versteht. Entdeckt bei einem Auftritt in Saarbrücken, bekommt die schöne Patricia die Chance, bei Polydor-Deutschland ein Album aufzunehmen. Man meint, die neue Edith Piaf entdeckt zu haben. Und in der Tat: Das Album "Mademoiselle chante le Blues" (1988) wird ein Erfolg. Daraus ist auch der Titel "D'Allemagne". Die Französin gewinnt im selben Jahr den Nachwuchspreis als beste Sängerin Frankreichs.
