Creedence Clearwater Revival

1959 begann Gitarrist John Fogerty (geboren 28. 5.1945 in Berkeley - Kalifornien), sein Bruder, Gitarrist und Sänger Tom Fogerty (geboren 9.11.1941 in Berkeley), Schlagzeuger Douglas „Cosmo' Clifford (geboren 24.4.1945 in Palo Alto) und Bassist Stuart Cook (geboren 25.4. 1945 in Oakland) als Golliwogs auf Parties und Schulveranstaltungen zu spielen.

Ab 1964 nehmen sie wenig erfolgreich Platten auf, taufen sich Ende 1967 in Creedence Clearwater Revival um, nehmen 1968 erste LP als CCR auf, haben im Frühjahr mit „Proud Mary' ersten Hit In Amerika, schaffen damit auch den Sprung in die europäischen Hitparaden. „Green River', „Down on the Corner' und „Bad Moon Rising' sind in diesem Jahr die weiteren Millionenhits. Nehmen in diesem Jahr etwa 100 Mill. Dollar ein. 1971 steigt Tom Fogerty aus der Gruppe aus. Nach der LP „Mardi GWS' trennen sich Creedence Clearwater Revival im Herbst 1972. Jeder beschließt sein Glück als Solist zu versuchen.
