Kaum zu glauben, aber wahr: Paul Wellers Band Style Council, die 1983 in der Nachfolge von Jam entsteht, erscheint in der BRD sieben Mal in den Airplay-, niemals aber in den regulären Verkaufscharts. "Speak Like A Child" ist die Debütsingle von Style Council, die der Band in ihrer britischen Heimat einen vierten Platz in der Hitparade beschert und auch bei uns – wenngleich ohne Chartnotierung – bekannt wird. Style Council bricht 1990 wieder auseinander. Paul Weller (* 25. Mai 1958) gründet 1991 als neues Projekt Movement.
