This is unique in German Schlager history: FDP politician Walter Scheel (foreign minister and vice-chancellor from 1969 to 1974; Federal President from 1974 to 1979) goes to the recording studio with the Bonn Men's Choir at the end of 1973, records a German folk song and ends up at the top of the singles charts. "High on the yellow wagon" is Scheel's first and only hit (1974).
