Wolfgang Protze


Wolfgang Protze, born in Großenhain, Saxony, in 1951, studied pedagogy (initially mathematics and physics) at the Potsdam College of Education, where he became a senior artistic assistant and finally honorary lecturer for song and chanson. Right at the beginning of his studies he founded the singing club Spartakus, which initially limited itself to reworking songs of other clubs musically. To the X's. At the 1973 World Festival in Berlin, the 'Handwagenprogramm' was created and performed on streets and squares. The nationwide breakthrough came in 1974 with the 'Teacher Be Against Very' programme, a series of songs on student and teacher themes. The songs were called Anne fährt studieren, Der Mathelehrer Klein and Hausmeister Petzold. The old schoolyard became particularly popular. Some of these songs were sung for years in school and other singing clubs. The group Spartakus existed with changing members until 1987, performed at home and abroad and organized the annual 'Singe-Spartakiade' in Potsdam from 1975 to 1983.

From 1979 Wolfgang Protze also appeared as a soloist and received prizes at the Chansontagen in Frankfurt (Oder) in 1979 and 1983. From 1985 to 1990 he conducted the series 'Chansoncafé' in Potsdam and from 1987 he performed solo, in duo with his wife Ingrid (accordion, vocals) and also with band. In 1989 he played the program '99,9 PROTZEnt'; in 1990 'Südfrucht mit B'. Since 1992 Wolfgang Protze and his wife have been running the 'Fercher Obstkistenbühne' in the small village of Ferch near Potsdam, a cabaret open-air theatre in which he performs various musical-literary programmes with a regional reference.
