Who was/is Fritz Nussböck ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more
Fritz Nussböck
"...in schrebergoatn austria's aum shithouse number ans / stimman's for the connection, afterwards music and dance ..." (Sigi Maron/Fritz Nussböck, from: Liib Haimadland adee)
The watchmaker and singer-songwriter now lives largely withdrawn from the music scene; the poet, who has become a stage-shy, can only rarely be seen in the spotlight - for example in 2006 in the retro project 'The Short Night of the Veterans' coordinated by the writer Georg Biron - a kind of 'Last Supper of anti-state singer-songwriters and literary figures on display' in the Viennese trendy restaurant Andino. Fritz Nussböck - besides Reinhard Liebe and Sigi Maron - is the positive clichéd image of a songwriter (and himself strongly influenced by love), possesses an intense sensitivity with the eyes of the observer and the gift to set this to music unerringly; he is also a damn good guitarist, but probably an even better songwriter. He sings about freedom, equality, fraternity, about the loser's horns, sings songs about scarecrows, clocks, singer-songwriters, sausage-men, magistrate officials, and he sings about the ass, also called the backside: "to sit gheat a - analogously / he therefore hates buttocks / nua maunche tuan eam / and use eam to denkn / mochn on de oart career / in aumt oda at mülitea." Also perceptible in the songs of Fritz Nussböck is a deep regional roots - be it in S'Lebn is hoat in Favorit'n ("da voda hot's gaunze göd vasoffn / de muada - de hot g'reat / daun hot a uns a no vadroschn / wia sa se so g'heat"), be it in Favoriten i valoss di ("Favoriten i valoss di / i still go Meidling ins Exü"). His beginning as a songwriter goes back to the early days of the Folkclub Atlantis in the 70s, from 1984 he wrote his first texts with Sigi Maron. The result is a number of classics of the genre, from Liib Haimadland adee to the ludicrously ingenious Staatswabblerbluus, from Vienna is different to Trostlos-Strossn. The latter is also the title song of his solo album, published by Extraplatte in 1996 and created during a live performance in the restaurant 'Zur Kulisse'.
