Who was/is Mitchell, Tommy ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more

Seldom have two songs cut at the same session sounded so different as Tommy Mitchell’s 1956 Mercury single. His cover of Hardrock Gunter’s Juke Box, Help Me Find My Baby (Hardrock’s original with The Rythm [sic] Rockers appeared right around the same time on the tiny Cross Country label and then found its way to Sun) was flat-out rockabilly, while Mitchell’s revival of The Clovers’ ’54 R&B hit Little Mamaverged on pop, with a jazzy guitar solo and choral backing by The Jack Halloran Singers. An August 31, 1957 appearance on ‘The Big D Jamboree’ out of Dallas found Tommy performing Buddy Knox’s Rock Your Little Baby To Sleep, and he came back on May 10, 1958 to rip through Carl Perkins’ Glad All Over.
