Oskar Karlweis
* 10 June 1894 - 24 January 1956
Five years, until 1933, the singing actor from Vienna celebrated great success in Berlin - at the theatre, in revues (e.g. "Die Lichter von Berlin"), in operettas (e.g. "Meine Schwester und ich") and in films ("Die drei von der Tankstelle", 1930). Returning to Vienna, he left his hometown in 1935 for New York due to the prevailing political conditions over the Netherlands. He is one of the few who manages to continue his career in the USA. He dies in New York in 1956.
