Buddy Charleton
Elmer 'Buddy' Charleton was a self-admitted disciple of the two other 'Buds' of steel guitar – Bud Isaacs and Buddy Emmons (Charleton's immediate predecessor in the Texas Troubadours). A veteran of the Virginia club scene, he was recommended to Tubb by Patsy Cline and became a Troubadour in the spring of 1962. He stayed with Tubb until 1973. Charleton relocated to the Washington, D.C. area and worked as a steel guitar teacher. He passed away in January 2011.
