Who was/is Jackie Brooks ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more

Jackie Brooks’ 1955 Decca cover of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller’s Black Denim Trousers And Motorcycle Boots was even more of a pure pop effort than The Cheers’ hit original for Capitol. Jack Pleis’ big band treatment exhibited no trace of rock and roll content; neither did Brooks’ exaggerated vocal, though he was less affected on the swinging flip, The $64,000 Question (Do You Love Me?).
Brooks came back in ‘56 on Decca with a jumping The Raven, which opened with rumbling drums and a couple of shrieks before Jackie let loose with a histrionic vocal. My Blues Are Out Walkin’ sat on the opposite side.
