Andy Williams

Born on December 3, 1928 in Wall Lake, Iowa State. With his three brothers Dick, Bob and Don Andy Williams sang first in the church choir and later professionally (among others backing for Bing Crosby and Kay Thompson) as Williams Brothers Quartet.

Andy Williams began a solo career on the Cadence label in 1952 and moved to Columbia in 1961. Between 1956 and 1976 he delivered 46 US hits. His LP production is hardly manageable anymore, it made him a fortune.

In 1964 Andy Williams made his American cinema debut in'I'd Rather Be Rich' (' - So Man tames Eva') at Maurice Chevalier's side. Two years earlier he had married the French singer Claudine Longet (divorce 1970). The easy listening emperor built his own'Andy Williams Moon River Theatre' in Branson, Missouri in the early 1990s.
